Topics that will be discussed:

  • Restructuring plans for some Academically Unacceptable schools
  • Audit report
  • Star Employee Commission Report (aka, big overhaul of HR department) and a variety of related policy issue
BIG ITEM - Raising the Student to Teacher ratio at elementary schools from 22:1 to 24:1.  This is so that the District can cut back on teaching staff.  Whether or not they can do this without laying off teachers is a union issue.  That there will be more kids in the classroom and less teachers on campuses is a parent concern.   This item is currently on the consent agenda, but will hopefully be pulled for separate vote before the Board Meeting later this month.

This tool was first posted in February 2011, before DISD decided how to make the cuts being handed down from the State.  The info is old, but you can play with it.  It's a good tool for learning how the DISD budget is built - General Ledger Budget in Excel 2007 Spreadsheet (as .zip file).
GOES WITH IT, Listing of Function & Object Codes used in the DISD Budget Spreadsheet - see pages 106-120. School campus codes are in the "Org" column, and anything over 699 is non-campus administration.
